Thanks for your interest in using the BridgingTheGap App. In order for you to use this application we will need you to review and agree to this Privacy Policy and the associated Terms of Use. Thank you.


BridgingTheGap Ventures Ltd (herein referred to as “BridgingTheGap”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information obtained by reason of your relationship with BridgingTheGap Ventures, including your use of our website, app, services and platform (collectively, our “Application”). 

We consider your personal information to be very important and it should be protected. 

This Privacy Policy has been created to help you understand the personal information which we may collect, how we intend to securely process and store that data, and the rights you have in relation to your personal data (“Personal Information”) when you use our Application and/or register with us as a user.

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with the with the terms and conditions contained in the Terms of Use posted at: bridgingthegapventures.com/terms-of-use/ . All capitalized terms used herein not otherwise defined shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Terms of Use.


By downloading, installing or using our Application, you signify your consent to all of the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy, and that of your parent or legal guardian if you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence. If you do not agree with any terms of this Privacy Policy, you must not download, install, register or in any way use the Application.

What information do we collect?

We collect and process two distinct kinds of information:

●   Non-personal information such as the pages you have accessed, helping us to determine how many people use our Application, how many people visit on a regular basis, and how popular each of our pages are. This information doesn't tell us anything about who you are. It simply allows us to monitor and improve our Application and related services.

●  “Personal Information” defined as information about an identifiable individual, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address or payment information. We collect Personal Information when you voluntarily provide it through our Application, or when you provide it to us through other means. For example, the information we collect may include: 

  • your first and last name; 

  • contact information, such as your address, telephone number, or e-mail address; 

  • your Application username – we ask for a username so that if you make any posts or comments that these are attributable to you. Other users will also be able to search for you by name, and it will be shown on your public profile page. You do not need to use your real name, though we generally encourage it.

  • profile photo – this is optional, but if you add one this will be shown next to any posts and comments you make, as well as on your public profile page.<br>

  • password – we store this in a secure one-way encrypted system. If you forget your password, you may request that it be reset, and we will send an email to you with instructions on how to do so.

  • if you choose to make a subscription purchase, your payment information; 

  • any other Personal Information that you voluntarily choose to submit to us.

Once you register and create an account for our Application, we process the following additional information: 

  • Posts and comments in the Application that you choose to make available. Please bear in mind that any posts and comments you make will be in the public domain and will be viewable by other users of the Application and possibly by non-registered users of the Application via periodic emails and public web pages showing recent Application activity.

  • You may also send friend requests to other users and, should they accept, you will have the ability to send one-to-one and group messages to them. These messages are completely private between you and any other recipients and are not monitored.

  • As you use the Application we will keep track of what sections you have visited, so that we can highlight sections or content to you that you may have missed. We also use this data in an aggregated form to understand how popular the Application and its different sections are so that we can improve the service. Any activity data such as this personalized attributed to you is never shared with anyone and is only used for our internal purposes.

  • We record the last IP address you accessed the service from so that we can protect the service from malicious access. As part of this we may look up the approximate location of the IP address such as country and city. This data is not shared and is used for internal purposes only.

You and Your Data

We will only collect Personal Information that you have voluntarily decided to provide to us or we have recorded from your use of our Application. We comply with all legislative and regulatory information retention requirements and will securely and permanently delete your personal information when there is (a) no justification for its further retention, or (b) you have asked us to delete it.

BridgingTheGap Ventures maintains the ability to create anonymized, aggregate data, or both. Any aggregate data created from Personal Information will be anonymized prior to any publication or external disclosure. Such aggregate and anonymized data will be owned by BridgingTheGap. We will retain the right to use all anonymized aggregate data at all times and this right will survive any discontinuance of the Application or BridgingTheGap services by you.


How We Use and Disclose Personal Information

The Personal Information that you submit through the BridgingTheGap Application will be kept strictly confidential unless otherwise specified. BridgingTheGap identifies the purpose for which your Personal Information is collected and will be used or disclosed. If that purpose is not listed below, we will do this before or at the time the information is actually being collected. 

You will be deemed to consent to our use or disclosure of your Personal Information for the purposes of:

  • communicating with you generally;

  • registering your user account to provide you with the Services;

  • protecting against fraud or error;

  • conducting market research and surveys;

  • conducting promotional activities, including contests;

  • improving our Platform, products, services and website, including by performing statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various sections of the Platform so as to improve design and navigation and to gather marketing information;

  • responding to your questions or inquiries;

  • providing products and services requested by you; or

  • recommending products and services that BridgingTheGap believes will be of interest and provide value to you;

  • sending you updates and news about BridgingTheGap or the Application;

  • sending you emails through third party email delivery services;

  • complying with legal and governmental requirements; and

  • fulfilling any other purpose that would be reasonably apparent to the average person at the time we collect it from you.

As described above, you can choose not to provide certain information but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our Application or related services. 

We may transfer your Personal Information to third party service providers that assist us with carrying out these purposes. For example, we may use third party service providers to facilitate payments.


We may also use or disclose your Personal Information to third parties if we have reason to believe that using or disclosing such information is necessary to: (i) conduct investigations of possible breaches of law; (ii) identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating an agreement they have with us; (iii) investigate security breaches or cooperate with government authorities pursuant to a legal matter, for example, if we are subject to a subpoena, court order, or the information is requested by the police or another law enforcement entity; or (iv) to protect our rights, safety or property. 


If your Personal Information is shared with third parties, those third parties will be bound by appropriate agreements with us to secure and protect the confidentiality of your Personal Information. We retain your Personal Information only as long as it is required for our business relationship or as required by federal and provincial laws.


What Choices do I have?

You may withdraw your consent to our use and disclosure of your Personal Information at any time. If you do not wish to receive email communications you can notify BridgingTheGap at any time of your preference. In addition, subject to applicable law, you have the right to request access to, correct, and delete your Personal Information, and to ask for data portability. You may also object to our processing of your personal data or ask that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain instances. If you wish to do any of these things, please contact BridgingTheGap as instructed below.

Record Accuracy

You may request access to the Personal Information we have on record in order to review and amend the information, as appropriate. You may also request the erasure of your Personal Information.  In circumstances where your Personal Information has been provided by a third party, we will refer you to that party. To access your Personal Information, please refer to the “Contact Us” section below.


Security Measures 

We take steps to safeguard your Personal Information, regardless of the format in which it is held. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and your computer. Be sure to sign off when you have finished using any shared computer.  Our security measures include: 

  • electronic security measures for computerized personal information such as password protection and database encryption;

  • organizational processes such as limiting access to your Personal Information to a selected group of individuals; and

  • contractual obligations with third parties who need access to your Personal Information requiring them to protect and secure your Personal Information.

Although we have taken measures to help protect our Application, computer systems and any Personal Information that we have collected from unauthorized use, access, disclosure, misuse, alteration or destruction, no security measures can provide absolute protection. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us. 


Some or all of the Personal Information we collect may be stored or processed on servers located outside your jurisdiction of residence, including in Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from the jurisdiction in which you live. As a result, this information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in those jurisdictions according to laws in those jurisdictions.


Children’s Personal Data

This Application, and any services available from it, are not directed to users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of thirteen (13). If a child has already provided us with Personal Information, his or her parent or guardian may contact us for the purpose of deleting this information.


User Data Rights

If you are based in the EU, under the General Data Protection Regulation you have several rights connected to the provision of your personal information to us from using the Application.

1. The right to be informed 

You have the right to be provided with clear, transparent and easily understandable information about how we use your information and your rights. This is why we’re providing you with the information in this Privacy Policy.

2. The right of access

You have the right to obtain access to your personal information (if we’re processing it), and certain other information such as the reasons why we are processing or storing it. This is so you’re aware and can check that We’re using your personal information in accordance with data protection legislation and your agreement.

3. The right to rectification

You are entitled to request that your personal information is promptly corrected if it’s identified as being inaccurate or incomplete.

4. The right to erasure

This is also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’ and, in simple terms, enables you to request the deletion or removal of your information under certain circumstances where there’s no compelling reason for us to keep using it. This is not a general right to erasure; there are exceptions.

5. The right to restrict processing

You have rights to ‘block’ or suppress further use of your Personal Information. When processing is restricted We can still store your information but may not be able to process it further. We maintain lists of people who have asked for further use of their personal information to be ‘blocked’ to make sure the restriction is respected in future.

6. The right to data portability

You have rights to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services. 

7. The right to object to processing

You have the right to object to certain types of personal data processing, including processing for direct marketing activities.

8. The right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint about the way we have handled or processed your personal data with your national data protection regulator.

9. The right to withdraw consent

If you have given your consent to anything we do with your Personal Iata, you have the right to vary or withdraw your consent at any time (although if you do so, it does not mean that anything We have done with your personal data with your consent up to that point is unlawful). This includes your right to withdraw your consent to us using your Personal Information for marketing purposes.


We usually act on validated requests and provide the requested information or activity free of charge, but by law we are allowed to charge a reasonable fee to cover our administrative costs of providing the information for:

●   baseless or excessive/repeated requests, or

●   further copies of the same information.

Alternatively, there are reasons why we may be entitled to refuse to act on the request.


Please consider your request responsibly before submitting it. We’ll respond as soon as we can. Generally, this will be within one month from when we receive your validated request but, if the request is going to take longer to deal with, we will let you know.

International Transfers of Personal Information

As we have described above, to be able to provide you with the Application we may require to transfer your Personal Information to service providers in different countries. These countries’ privacy laws may be different from those in your home country.

Should we transfer data to a country which has not been deemed to provide adequate data protection standards we will always have security measures and approved model clauses in place to protect your Personal Information.

If you are based in the EU, by voluntarily submitting your Personal Information to us you consent to these international transfer. If you later wish to withdraw your consent, please contact us using the details in the Contact Us section.


Use of Cookies

Cookies are small text files sent by websites to your web browser and sent back to them each time you access or use the site, and may be necessary for the site to function. They are unique to you or your web browser and may contain personally identifiable information as well as technical information (e.g. your device manufacturer and model, screen resolution, internet service provider, browser, and geo-location data). Session-based cookies last only while your browser is open and are automatically deleted when you close the browser. Persistent cookies last until you or your browser delete them, or until they expire.


When using the Application, you should be aware that the mobile application element of the Application does not use cookies. We do maintain recognition of Log In, but this is not managed by cookies. Third-party websites which we, or other users, may link or might however include cookies. These are outside of our control and we cannot guarantee their behaviour. These sites may use both session-based and persistent cookies, dependent upon the functionality in those sites.

However, when posts are shared from the Application into social media, the webpages in the Application that support this feature do use cookies to anonymously gather metrics on which pages are the most popular.

The Application includes relevant hyperlinks (posted by us or Application users) to external websites which are not directly controlled by us. Whilst all reasonable care has been exercised in selecting and providing such links, you are advised to exercise caution before clicking any external links. We cannot guarantee the ongoing suitability of external links, nor do we continually verify the safety or security of the contents which may be provided to you. You are advised, therefore, that your use of external links is at your own risk and we cannot be responsible for any damages or consequences caused by your use of them.


Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we do so, you will be notified at your next available interaction with the Application, at which time you will be provided with the updated Privacy Policy to review and we will indicate on this page the date this Privacy Policy was last updated. Your continued access to and/or use of our Application, products, and/or services after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of and agreement to be legally bound by this Privacy Policy, as revised.
